Sollux died because he had not yet entered the Medium before it was released and also because he was a yellow blood and only fuchsia bloods can survive it. His Derse dream self woke up and took his place after Feferi kissed his dead body. I explained the Vast Glub already here.
what are the point of dream selves? i always thought they were kind of like an extra life like alot of video games have, but does their existence serve other purposes?
Dream selves are essentially a back up life in case your real body dies like you said. They’re necessary if you want to ascend on a Quest Bed.
