Why was Caliborns leg healed after he god tiered? Wouldn't it re-form like Vriska's arm did?

Caliborn’s metal leg stayed with him after he ascended probably because he preferred it that way.

Karkat states that Gamzee is his “AWFUL BEST FRIEND” when we first meet the trolls but they only become moirails here after Karkat shoosh paps him.
