I read a theory that sessions lacked their Knight's aspects. A2 lacked connections (blood), the kids sessions lacked time (early reckoning). But what did the A1 session lack, having a Knight of Mind?
The whole “session lacking their knight’s aspect” isn’t canon. The A1 session is proof of this since Mind is apparently supposed to mean logic but the A1 trolls did everything correctly, it was just a null session.

Pre-scratch trolls are Meenah and her team. The played sburb but they weren’t prepared for the game and also it was a null session so they scratched and their ancestors became the players in the post-scratch universe. Karkat and his team are the post-scratch trolls.

Do Aranea and Kanaya have any notable traits in common that might be common to the Sylph class?
They both seem eager to help people but have a ruthless side. Aranea paid people to listen to long-winded explanations to help them understand and Kanaya has an obvious motherly side. Aranea also took control of the alpha timeline because she thought it was for the greater good and demonstrated some violent behavior. Kanaya doesn’t mind getting her hands dirty for her friend’s sake, sawing off Tavros’ legs or cutting her lusus down the middle and sticking her hand inside it’s body to get the matriorb. So all in all, helpful but ruthless.
When you think about it, nepeta's beta and alpha selves were pretty fucked up. One was screwing Jesus and the other was fucking satan. Nepeta isn't too far off from her beta ancestor though, with wanting to be redroms with karkat

The Handmaid isn’t Nepeta, she’s actually Damara’s post-scratch incarnation and the Handmaid wasn’t sleeping with Lord English. The Disciple (Meulin’s post-scratch self) and the Handmaid are both post-scratch ancestors who are two separate people.
