why can only either the Lief ring or the Void ring be present at a time? was there a reason given for why when one is found the other disappears?

There is a theory that they’re actually the same ring but other than speculation we haven’t seen a canon reason why one disappears when the other comes up.

What does the Void Ring do? And what would happen if both rings were to be in the same place at the same time?

Has the point been brought up either by or to Porrim and Kankri about how Porrim acted as the sufferers mother in the other universe? Or are they not aware of that.
