How does Jake turn from the badass double pistols and a wink guy, to the human equivalent of Tavros?
Okay one, I’m sorry, but Jake has never been badass
He became the “human equivalent of Tavros” only in the last few weeks (in-story time) as his relationship with Dirk began to decline and kept venting to Jane oblivious of how it made her feel. The kicker being (and this all happened in the last 24 hours mind you) when Jane blew up on him, when Dirk broke up with him, and when Heiress Jane told him that he was good for nothing but looking hot and making babies. Dude’s self-esteem and self-confidence are at an all time low, just like Tavros’s was back in Hivebent. That’s why they get along so well.

Post-retcon Jake, he has the same Jake story except he didn’t die in GAME OVER, and Vriska made fun of him a lot, and he has Tavrosprite as a buddy.

It’s been so long since Hussie’s been the narrator that it feels really weird to read, but maybe that’s just meand I feel it doesn’t really flow well from [S] Remember
But it was a good way to end a hiatus, it’s been about three years our time since Spade Slick so the old homestuck feel of explaining everything was a good refresher and was fitting.
But Slick’s robo-eye suddenly being real, while a very Homestuck thing to do felt like kinda a cop out, not a huge fan of that. But it was only the opener, the upd8′s to follow will be the real stars

Lil Seb is a robot built around the Post-scratch version of the Con Air bunny. Dirk gave it to Jane as a birthday present when she turned 13.
Is the rest of the update going to be drawn like that or just 125 pages?

The 125 pages were drawn by 3 different What Pumpkin artist, so there will most likely be more style changes throughout the 125 pages, but the next about 40 pages should be all Hussie. Or at least that’s the impression I get from the newsupdate
