I'm not really bothered by davejadekat but I do think there's a more elegant answer to having davejade, which is...javepeta. Since Davesprite and Jade have a comic-long romantic subplot that incorporates both of their characters and issues, and I think it's pretty sad that thoroughline has gone mostly ignored. I'll submit what I wrote about them @ you if only because I really think it's worth considering this angle insofar as thinking about Jade's arc in canon and why it went the way it went.

Look. I don’t ship Davekat, I don’t ship Davejade or Davekatjade or jadekat, I don’t ship any of those characters with anybody (except maybe kar<>kan). I do not give a shit about this.
I am just posting facts from the story. If you say so-an-so is monogamous or so-an-so isn’t, I reply with facts that may imply “not necessarily”, I’m not saying they’re polya or not because the narrative doesn’t, I’m keeping the door open for everyone to believe what they like, as is the nature of Homestuck. And if it looks like I have a bias towards davekat, I don’t, but maybe the narrative of homestuck does.
