Actually, most (or not all) of the Beforan trolls weren't named by Hussie either! They were suggestions in the name suggestion box for their dancestors.

I think a lot of people forget who was who’s server player in the troll session since it wasn’t mentioned much.

Forgotten fact: Hussie didn't name any of the kids or trolls! Not pre- or post-scratch in either case. It's most likely because so many people started reading after the suggestion boxes were closed, but it's still pretty cool to check out the old threads and such!

Also a fun fact about the numbers of letters is that the Derse kids have 7 letters in their last names, and the Prospits have 6.

Correction, all Beta-Prospit Kids have 6 letters.

Actually! About the ask about Hussie's planning. He originally didn't even intend for the trolls to appear. He started the webcomic intending it to be solely four kids playing a game, and explaining the construct of the game. Source is from the 1st Homestuck book, in one of his comments.

The Species title is the same number of letters as their names. All Kids have 4 letter, Trolls 6, Cherubim 8.

Don’t forget Ancestors 8

Sadly Guardian doesn’t fit the same pattern, but they all have three letters excluding Grandpa Harley (ex:Dad, Mom, Bro, Bec)

Hey, did any of you guys realize Hussie planned EVERYTHING IN HOMESTUCK TO DO THE EXACT THINGS? He had all these ideas before they even existed as pages. For example, Jake's side of the letter was introduced before Jake even came into the comic at all.

Another example being Jasper’s timeline or the RapBots poster in Dave’s room.

The beauty of the webcomic format is that you can waste time on boring stuff and throw in tid bits that won’t be relevant for years without having to worry about being cancelled or discontinued.
