Retcon, Retroactive Continuity. It is going back and changing or adding to a previously established fact.
In Homestuck’s terms it is different than time travel. It effects the Narrative itself rather than just a timeline and as such avoids the creation of doomed timelines. Material in the Furthest Ring (dream bubbles and horror terrors) are immune to any changes likely (speculation) because they exist slightly outside the Narrative taking place almost exclusively in Intermissions.
So does everyone forget that John can turn into the wind when he wants to, because he did that to evade Jade when she was evil? Did he lose that power later in the comic?

why did typheus have to be a dick and kill john so early on in the journey? why couldn't he kill him near the journeys end?

Typheus killed John because he went to them too early, before he meant to. Besides if he hadn’t then Davesprite never would have existed.

I’m just gonna jump in front of this before it becomes a thing. The 2017 Homestuck Calendar, along with all the other calendars are Non-Canonical.
Yes, one of the illustrations includes dead pre-scratch trolls on Earth C and you’re allowed to have as many AU’s, daydreams, and fanonical beliefs where this is the case as you like. But in canon, there is no evidence to suggest that the dead trolls did make it to Universe C.
Just wanted to get that out there to try and avoid future confusion.

"not red feelings which is what Equ wanted" Where did you get this? It was clear as day that Equius wanted to share a flushed RED romantic quadrant with Aradia. Don't you remember when he was slobbering all over the robot body? I'm pretty sure there were no feelings of rivalry or hate, just disgust towards her blood caste and "illicit forbidden love". Aradia likely never wanted anything to do with Equius, but thanks to alien romance "sure being weird" they ended up in a non-quadrant anyway.

I meant that Equ wanted red feelings which isn’t what Aradia expressed. So Equius didn’t get what he wanted.
